WE ARE GUERNSEY hosted their annual event at the Banking Hall in London on 5 October 2021. Titled 'The Power of Capital', the Guernsey Private Wealth Forum 2021 explored the topical and pressing conversations surrounding the good that wealth can do. As the days of investing solely to turn an economic return on investment appear to be well and truly over, today’s families and investors want investments which are not just good now but good for the future, too. They want a social as well as an economic return.
We were challenged to create artwork which would reflect this philanthropic side to private wealth. I illustrated a landscape which centred around giving hands rising up through the ground spurting coins out of their open palms. The coins transform into other parts of the landscape representing all the different ways philanthropy can help local economies and communities such as hospitals, agriculture, education and construction.
We drew inspiration from batik paintings from Africa and mixed this with the revolutionary artwork of the constructivism movement to create a call to arms style artwork. I illustrated the piece, created all the set design and room decor and also art directed the day with the tech team, videographers and photographers. I also worked closely with the videographer and editor and directed the shots, editing process and even the interviews to create a video we could use to promote the next years event.
We animated this in a video sting which we rolled out across our social media channels and utilised in the event as an top and tail to the sessions. We ran a social media campaign and had a suite of sponsorship documents, literature and digital assets. I was privileged to once again have household names, like Cherie Blair and Daisy McAndrew, enjoying and presenting on my set and thrilled that the event was hugely successful.
