Designing for the Wedding Fairy: Emma & Charlie’s Bespoke Wedding

When your bride is not only your close friend but also a professional wedding planner (aka “The Wedding Fairy”), the expectations are sky-high. Emma and Charlie’s April 20th, 2024 wedding was a true celebration of bold ideas, fearless style, and showstopping design. Here’s how we turned complex ideas into one unforgettable wedding aesthetic.

The Challenge

Emma had a bold, layered vision:

  • Subtle leopard print
  • Deep forest green and gold palette
  • Celestial elements and crystal motifs
  • Tropical rainforest inspiration

It was a unique combination—one even the groom wasn’t sure would work. But I knew we could bring it together in a way that felt seamless, luxurious, and entirely personal.

Invitations: Setting the Tone

We began with the invitations, which set the stage for the whole experience.

Design Highlights:

  • Background: Subtle leopard print blended into a canopy of tropical rainforest leaves.
  • Celestial detail: Stars “dripping” down from the top for a dreamy effect.
  • Custom Icon: A crescent moon formed from “E” and “C” — their bespoke wedding logo, used throughout the event (and later tattooed by the bride!).

Print & Finish Details:

  • Gatefold format with digital foiling
  • Velvet lamination for a tactile, luxurious feel
  • Iridescent pink envelopes and pearl-green wax seals
  • Matching celestial-style typeface and illustrated venue details

This design wove together all her themes — jungle, celestial, luxe — into one cohesive visual story.

On-the-Day Design: Bold, Functional & Beautiful

The wedding design didn’t stop at invitations. Emma wanted every element to feel intentional and rich in detail.

The Order of Service

To maintain a seamless visual thread from the invitations through to the ceremony, we designed a bespoke Order of Service that matched the look and feel of the wedding stationery suite.

Print & Finish Details:

  • Printed using the same velvet lamination and digital foiling technique as the invitations
  • Featured the wedding icon, celestial typeface, and tropical-leopard motif
  • Offered guests both a beautiful keepsake and a clear guide to the ceremony

This wasn’t just a functional piece—it was another opportunity to immerse guests in the couple’s world.

The Three Arches

The magic didn’t stop at the invites. On the day itself, every touchpoint reflected the couple's unique style. We designed a matching order of service using the same print techniques and typefaces for continuity.

The pièce de résistance? A showstopping three-panel signage installation, which doubled as both backdrop and functional decor. Designed in collaboration with Emma, the structure included:

We created:

  • A three-panel arch display:
    • Panel 1: Table Plan
    • Panel 2: Welcome sign
    • Panel 3: Order of the Day
  • Mounted canvas onto panels hand-built by the groom
    • Real agate slices (mounted with vinyl table names)
    • Sprayed gold 3D lasercut details
    • Matching celestial typography

Acrylic Crossword Puzzle

  • Custom-made acrylic sign with clues about Emma and Charlie
  • Guests used whiteboard markers to solve, then wipe clean for the next player

These pieces were not only striking in scale, but deeply personal and fully interactive.

On the table: Personalised & Memorable

Throughout the wedding day, guests experienced carefully crafted details that made the celebration feel extra special.

Keepsake Agate Place Cards

  • Each guest had a personalised agate slice with their name in vinyl
  • Matched invitation typography
  • Doubled as a luxe, meaningful wedding favour

These were so loved — not one was left behind!

3D Laser-Cut Table Names

  • Designed to match the crescent moon wedding icon
  • Made in-house with layered, painted details and hanging accents

The Hen Party: Extending the Brand

We carried the wedding design through to Emma’s hen party with thoughtful, personalized touches.

We created:

  • A bespoke robe: with her name and logo in vinyl (perfect for the hen night and wedding morning)
  • Foiled paper bunting: in her wedding colors
  • Compact mirrors: for each hen with their name and wedding icon

The attention to detail made the hens feel special, and everything tied beautifully into the wider wedding aesthetic.

After dark designs

As the sun set and the party came to life, Emma and Charlie found a powerful way to wrap the day in their signature style—literally.

  • Projections : To bring the wedding full-circle, Emma and Charlie even projected their wedding icon onto the marquee during the evening—a bold visual reminder of how versatile and personal branding can be at a wedding.
  • Temporary tattoos: There was even a temporary tattoo station featuring bespoke tattoos of the crescent moon icon. Guests of all ages got involved, applying the designs during the evening party. It was interactive, stylish, and an unexpected highlight.

A Wedding That Broke the Mold

This wedding was bursting with creativity, love, and fearless personal expression. It’s a perfect example of what happens when a couple dares to stray from tradition and embrace their own unique style. By embracing her bold ideas, combining unlikely themes, and focusing on bespoke detail at every step, we created a wedding that:

  • Reflected the couple’s style
  • Delivered a cohesive, unforgettable visual identity
  • Made every guest feel part of the magic

This is what happens when you design fearlessly: something truly, beautifully unique.

Thinking outside the box for your wedding or event?

Let’s bring your ideas to life—no matter how wild they may seem.
